WThink helped a provincial renewable energy operation center build an intelligent monitoring and efficiency analytics platform, connecting 4 photovoltaic plants, 19 wind power projects, and 569 wind turbines to improve centralized supervision, detect abnormal performance, and support smarter O&M decisions.
Project background
As renewable energy assets continue to expand, operation centers are managing an increasing number of photovoltaic plants and wind farms across different regions. However, differences in equipment models, data sources, operating conditions, and management standards make centralized management increasingly challenging.
Traditional monitoring methods often require operators to manually review multiple systems and compare large amounts of operational data. This approach makes it difficult to identify underperforming assets, hidden efficiency losses, and abnormal operating trends before they impact power generation.
The project focused on transforming large-scale renewable energy data into actionable insights through intelligent monitoring, performance analytics, and automated early warning capabilities.
Intelligent monitoring platform solution
WThink developed an intelligent monitoring and efficiency analytics platform for a provincial renewable energy production center. The system integrates operational data from 4 photovoltaic plants, 19 wind power projects, and 569 wind turbines into a unified management environment.
The platform collects and standardizes data from different renewable energy assets, including equipment status, power generation data, environmental information, alarms, and historical operating records. Through intelligent analysis, it helps operators quickly identify abnormal conditions and focus on critical issues that require attention.
Instead of manually reviewing thousands of data points, operation teams can receive prioritized alerts related to equipment downtime, abnormal output, efficiency reduction, and performance deviation, improving the efficiency of daily monitoring and decision-making.
Key capabilities
Multi-site data integration
The platform connects photovoltaic and wind power projects from different locations, creating a unified data foundation for centralized renewable energy management.
Intelligent operation monitoring
Automated monitoring continuously analyzes equipment status, operating trends, alarms, and abnormal conditions across renewable energy assets.
Performance efficiency analysis
The system compares similar equipment and analyzes historical trends to identify underperforming assets and potential efficiency losses.
Early warning and workflow management
Abnormal events are prioritized through alerts, tasks, and follow-up processes to support faster response and resolution.
AI-driven efficiency analysis
Renewable energy assets may experience performance degradation without triggering traditional fault alarms. Equipment aging, sensor deviations, operating strategies, environmental changes, or abnormal operating conditions can gradually reduce generation efficiency.
WThink applies data comparison and trend analysis models to evaluate equipment performance from multiple perspectives. The system compares similar wind turbines, photovoltaic units, and plant-level indicators to identify assets operating below expected performance levels.
By combining operational data, historical trends, and expert rules, the platform helps operators understand potential causes, prioritize maintenance actions, and transition from reactive troubleshooting to proactive asset management.
Project value
The intelligent monitoring system transforms large volumes of renewable energy data into prioritized events, helping operation teams reduce dependence on manual monitoring and improve daily operational efficiency.
By connecting operational history, abnormal events, performance indicators, and handling records, the platform provides a stronger data foundation for performance comparison, maintenance planning, and renewable energy asset optimization.
Reduced monitoring workload
Large volumes of renewable energy data are converted into prioritized events, reducing dependence on manual monitoring and improving operational efficiency.
Early detection of performance issues
The system helps identify equipment efficiency problems and abnormal trends before they develop into larger generation losses.
Unified management standards
Different photovoltaic and wind projects can be evaluated through consistent indicators, analysis methods, and operational standards.
Smarter O&M decisions
Operational history, abnormal events, and handling records provide stronger support for maintenance planning and asset optimization.
From data monitoring to intelligent operation
For large-scale renewable energy operators, intelligent monitoring is no longer only about collecting data. The real value comes from transforming complex operational information into clear actions and better decisions.
By integrating photovoltaic and wind power data, AI analytics, performance comparison, and automated early warnings, WThink helps renewable energy operation centers improve visibility, reduce monitoring pressure, and build a more efficient intelligent O&M model.
This multi-site intelligent monitoring project demonstrates how AI-based analytics and centralized management can improve renewable energy operations. By connecting photovoltaic plants, wind projects, and equipment performance data in one intelligent platform, WThink supports proactive risk detection, efficiency improvement, and smarter renewable energy asset management.
