WThink supported a GW-scale wind-solar-storage project with a smart construction site system that connects personnel access, vehicle control, AI safety monitoring, turbine hoisting, PV progress tracking, drone capture, and 720° panoramic visualization into one unified platform.
Project background
The project covered a large renewable energy construction area with wind power, solar PV, energy storage, booster facilities, and multiple EPC teams working at the same time. Wind turbine hoisting, PV module installation, material delivery, vehicle movement, and field safety all needed tighter coordination.
Traditional site management relied on manual patrols, messaging groups, and periodic reports. For a project at this scale, that made it difficult for owners, supervisors, and off-site managers to see real-time progress, verify key work stages, or respond quickly to safety risks.
The goal was to turn people, equipment, materials, work behavior, site environment, progress, and video evidence into visible, traceable, and manageable data.
Smart construction site solution
WThink built a smart construction site system that integrates personnel and vehicle access, perimeter protection, machinery management, AI behavior analysis, wind turbine hoisting monitoring, PV construction progress, time-lapse recording, drone data collection, and 720° panoramic views.
The system combines front-end sensing devices, cameras, drones, drone docks, IoT equipment, software platforms, installation, commissioning, and training into one delivery package. Site activity is recorded through video and IoT data, while risk events and key construction processes are managed through the same platform.
Key capabilities
Personnel and vehicle control
Workers, vehicles, machinery, and key materials are registered and tracked, with access records linked to identity and role permissions.
AI safety monitoring
AI detects missing helmets, smoking, restricted-area entry, falls, unsafe behavior, and dangerous approach to machinery.
Key process tracking
Wind turbine hoisting, PV module installation, material delivery, and critical construction stages are recorded for traceability.
Drone progress capture
Drones and fixed cameras collect wide-area progress data, reducing manual reporting gaps and supporting visual comparison over time.
Project results
The platform unified the management of people, vehicles, machinery, materials, site behavior, progress, environmental conditions, and video resources. Managers could review construction status, safety events, and key process evidence remotely instead of relying only on field patrols and delayed reports.
AI-based risk recognition helped shift safety management from random checks and after-the-fact accountability to continuous monitoring and earlier intervention. Turbine hoisting and PV installation were recorded with visual evidence, making progress tracking, quality review, and issue tracing more reliable.
This GW-scale wind-solar-storage smart construction site case shows how WThink helps renewable energy projects improve construction safety, progress visibility, quality traceability, and remote collaboration. The same digital foundation can also support future smart O&M after the project enters operation.
